Portable App Development

How would I go about having my PortableApps drive always show up as a particular letter (unless that letter's taken)? I would like to do it from an AutoIt script if possible. Otherwise, I'll use VC++ 6.

I'm particularly aiming this question at SmithTech, as I know his menu does it (on the other hand, it does it from Delphi/Pascal, which may be very different).

Any and all help gladly welcomed.

I downloaded PythonPortable but the parameter winkExecutable in PythonPortable.ini does not work. I need to launch pythonw.exe to hide the command prompt but the PythonPortable.exe launch always python.exe. The PythonPortable.ini is in the correct directory beacause I tried the disable logo option that worked well.

I'm writing an application which needs 7-Zip. Currently I have the path to the executable I need kind of hard coded (which means it is environment variable send to Java using -D option.

But since not everyone are familiar with changing the path is it possible to detect location of the 7-Zip during starting the application? Is there any 'repository' where there are data about all installed applications (name,directory etc.)?

This is a suggestion for future versions of PAM and I recognize that most users won't run into this situation. I am currently using the R30 variant and it is working well. I also use one of two pagers to enable linux-like multiple virtual screens on WinXP. The two I use are AltDesk (proprietary) and VirtuaWin (GPL). Both have portable versions as well. If you set the 'Stay Visible' option on R30, the menu stays up on all of the virtual screens.

Hello to all you nice guys, responding or just reading my posts. Here's my 11th theme-package for you (you, me, everybody, everybody The Blues Brothers), containing 11 variations of TinyNovelTheme (TNT), a small theme like the Compact-Theme.
Here are the facts:

Name

PAM-Mod R25 and above by XrXca

Variation Names

Default, Basic, Black, XP, Gold, Barbie, Choco, Keyboard, Stars, Wood & Neo (you remember my concept of a wide small theme?)

Size

Yeah the only roadblock in making MoinMoinDE Portable is the wiki folder in Data\settings folder is not being moved back to App\moinmoin when MoinMoinDE is closed after the 1st run it moves the wiki folder to the Data\settings folder but 2nd run and so forth the launcher is not moving the wiki folder from Data\settings back to App\moinmoin

The wiki folder has 3 sub-directories

my first attempt to create a portable app. Unfortunately i am not provide u with the program due to licensing reasons.

Well here is what i did.
i used universal extractor to extract the files from the installer.
seems to work with out actually installing after. but when i open the .exe to start it, it rites to doc/set the appinfo what i am asking is how to redirect that directory to a folder contained within my flasdrive.
