Portable App Development

It's my first message in these forums, so If I write it in a wrong place, please put this message where necessary.

I have a problem, I'll explain you:

I use Adagide to create my programs in Ada Language. Adagide is free software for programming (I study computer engineering).

The thing is that I need it to be portable, so I have used "Portable Apps Creation Master 1.0".

Summat that can tell you there is a new version of a PAF program you already have installed? Maybe even handle the download/install of it too

With the move towards common files for several purposes (GTK, Java, etc), I wonder how these are going to be kept up to date in the future? Gaim, for example, requires a much more recent version of GTK than it did in previous incarnations. So if using a common files folder becomes fairly standard as a space saving technique, will the programs that use them still come with them in their own folder? Or will it be neccesarry to install required files seperately?

Is there any reason why Windows Server 2003 cannot verify the publisher of PortableApps?

Can the scrolling of the menu go both ways with the mouse wheel? I've got so many I'm getting RSI going to the x-apps at the bottom

Hi, I've been playing with NSIS for a few days now, and am trying to portablize an app that I would like to carry around with me on my flash drive.

I need some suggestions/leads on how to handle DLLs by the app in question. I found that putting all the DLLs in the app's directory seemed to work fine. Is that acceptable practice? Or should I have it in a separate directory and have the .NSI file tell the launcher where to find it?

How do I set the icon of a paf.exe file?

I used both resource hacker and xn resource editor. (I couldn't get resource hacker to work but xn did.) I get a file that works but the PAM won't accept it. The file works before I set the icon but not after. How do I do this?

On my pc i there is a reference to the portable app menu, even after the drive has been removed for the computer
->Right click on start
->hit propterites
->hit taskbar
->hit customize
->in that list, you should see the portable app menu
