Portable App Development

Every portable app I have has had this feature/issue that has been bothering me for a while. I've seen this behavior on MPC-HC and FoxitReader, to name a few, and since the same message appeared on multiple apps, I'm assuming this is a part of the core framework.

Try opening an app and then crashing it.

Now try opening it again. The app will tell you it didn't shut down correctly and needs to clean up. That's perfectly fine. So you click ok. And that's it, the app cleans up and closes.

I am not a developer. But I am trying to customize it for personal need.

What I want is every bar, menu or button removed, except the address bar.

Perhaps, the websites on the homepage as shortcuts.

How do I do it?

Dear PortableApps team,

I upgraded XAMPP Control Panel app to version 1.7.0.0 this morning.
https://portableapps.com/apps/development/xampp

It deleted all data located inside P:\PortableApps\XAMPP\App\xampp during update.
This means that all my XAMPP installation was deleted automatically, and nothing arrived inside recycle bin.

OS : Windows 7 64 bit.

It looks like it is a major bug to me.

Hello, I'm new so don't know very much I think portable apps are just the best thing, however can you make portable apps for bitdefender, Comodo, Vipre, Norton Utilities & Win Utilities, soorry the list goes on, I understand they are not open souce but can they be made for people who own the rights, badically I have a licence for all that ai mention but would much prefer to run them as a portable apps as they tend to suck too much resource from the PC especially when booting, AV all tend to suck resources, hence I don't have the knowledge to do it myself but at least you guy s o have th

The programm puts a lot of files in c:\Program Files\
How can I tell the launcher or other INI file to add the files under c:\Program Files\?

Hi, is it possible to add a check, when I eject the usb-drive, if a portable app is running?
Yesterday it was not the first time, that KeePassProPortable crashes after I ejected the usb-drive and I haven't saved the database.

I try to use GoogleChromePortable in a pool of virtual machines. I want to "install" ChromePortable local on the machines - but the settings and the bookmarks etc. should be in the roaming userprofiles.

When I try to change the ProfileDirectory and the SettingsDirectory via GoogleChromePortable.ini it is not possible to set the path to %APPDATA%\Chrome.
It is also not possible to access a homedrive (E:\).
It is only possible to change the directory via "..\..\Users" but %USERNAME% is also not supported.

Any further ideas?

I use Firefox portable version 52.2.0. I witnessed an unusual behavior:
After forcing the closure by killing the Firefox process from task manager, next time the browser is launched it will appear in safe mode.
Do you have any explanation for this behavior, knowing that the problem doesn’t happen systematically?

I'm new to all this and I am currently trying to portabalize an app that I have installed. I have it working and need to do more testing. I am using the 3.5.0 template. I see additional .png files along with the appicon.ico included with the template, but I only have the icon that came with the app. What is the purpose off the additional .png files and are they needed or recommended?
