Change directory before starting the application

Submitted by 3X4Portable on November 25, 2010 - 2:53am

Is there any possibility to change directory (application specific directory) before launching the application?

I'm writing a launcher for an application already installed on the system in use. As I often have to change the settings (a lot of registry values) I exported them as set to files and would like to import them and then start the application automatically. So my PortableApp is not a real portable one, it's just a tool helping me to manage the different configurations.

Really confused..

gPodder python help

Submitted by agdurrette on November 22, 2010 - 7:35pm

Someone requested gPodder and I was thinking about working on it but I have a question.

It is coded in python so there is a bunch of .py scripts. All the dependencies look like there included (including python). When ran it compiles the .py scripts. I was wondering when I package it should I include the compiled scripts package it as is?

jauntpe question

Hi,
I'm newbie here. Could anybody please point out the error in my testing move:

I use JauntePE030AlphaNB19 trying to portalize a software. Everything works but in the end: (this software tranforms a document into .doc file and automatically calls Winword to open that .doc file.), when it comes to this "automatically calls Winword", error occurs and some msoffice install procesure occurs...

I find out that .doc is saved to folder like ".\jpe\user\apps...", not where I wanted it to be.

Is there anything I can do?

I2P Package

Submitted by KwukDuck on November 20, 2010 - 3:42pm

For a while i've been keeping a portable I2P package up to date mainly for my and friends. I think the structure is somewhat a mess and things aren't how they are supposed to be yet.

So, i'll post it here, hopefully get some feedback and make some additions and/or corrections to make it official portable app.

Download: [Link removed]

(Just unpack and start "StartPortableApps.exe", then start the launcher to start I2P)

Changelog 2010-11-20:

*Updated Java to v6u22
*Integrated iMule 1.4.5

Changelog 2010-11-16:

*Updated I2P to 0.8.1
*Updated I2Fox to 3.6.12

How does one turn an executable JAR into a PA.c app with the Launcher?

Submitted by Augi on November 19, 2010 - 9:08am

As a start I wanted to turn an executable Java JAR into a portable app. I've received permission from the creators, and the app itself is open source.

The JAR doesn't seem to create any registry settings. It creates a .SETTINGS file after the first use, and a .LOG after every puzzle you solve, and both of these files reside in the same directory as the JAR. For simplicity (or what I think is simplicity's sake), I assume one has Java Portable and Java Portable Launcher available (as if they were installed via the PA.c Menu).

recommend diffpdf-an open source PDF compare software

Submitted by rubypdf on November 18, 2010 - 10:55pm

DiffPDF(http://soft.rubypdf.com/software/diffpdf) is an open source and cross platform(Qt4) software, can compare two PDF files. It offers two comparison modes: Text and Appearance.
It was developed by Mark Summerfield(http://www.qtrac.eu/diffpdf.html), I just compiled it on Windows. It works on my Windows XP and Windows 7(64-bit).
