Mac Style Dock

Program: RK Launcher or simmilar

License: Freeware

Description: This is a Mac style dock that runs on windows 2000 and XP. Would it be possible to build a simmilar program to replace John's Portable Apps launcher. I believe this program is already portable because it contains all of the DLL files and runs without an .exe installation. I think it would be cool if this program automatically recognized the apps like John's launcher does. Also, instead of having it run on the bottom of the screen could it run on the left side so that it doesn't compete for space with the windows explore bar?

Thanks.

RocketDock

RocketDock is completely portable, and can store your settings in an .ini file. No automatic recognition of apps, though.

There is a RocketDock laucher that makes it fully portable

http://clef.usb.googlepages.com/PortableRocketDock.exe

Then download RocketDock from the link provided from yehoni. Install RocketDock, then download PortableRocketDock and put it in a folder called RocketDock in your PortableApps folder, then in the folder where you put PortableRocketDock.exe create a folder named App, then goto Program Files>RocketDock and copy the contents and paste them into the App folder you created. Now click PortableRocketDock and it should ask you in French to select the folder where the guts of RocketDock is then select the App folder you created and enjoy!

Uninstall RocketDock (from the hdd if ya wanna).

RocketDock is a really good dock.

As all of ya should know Microsoft is the Evil Empire, and Windows (a.k.a. Winblows or Windoze) is their greatest general, so please make a difference and install Linux or FreeBSD on yer Windows comp.

Note for existing RocketDock users

Make sure RocketDock isn't running while you do this, or you won't be given the option to select the App folder.

Just out of curiosity, what wasn't portable about RocketDock without the launcher?

INI

Just make sure you select the option to save the information to the INI file (I cant remember if this is done during installation or not).

AquaDock

I used to use AquaDock way back in the day. Apple sued them because it was so similar; I guess this was before docks started coming out en masse, so I suppose it was one of the first. And if I remember correctly it was portable, just a .exe and .ini in the zip file. Apple did sue them, this is true, so the app is borderline warez, but it just did what RocketDock and others would later do, and I guess Apple gave up after this one. So it would be wrong to say AquaDock is wrong but RocketDock is OK. Either you believe that you have to have a Mac to have a dock or you don't.

In any case, I haven't used a dock since - it's been at least a few years. Maybe more, I'm trying to remember if I've used one since moving across the country in 2005. I don't think I have.

Isn't Appetizer a dock, or just an alternative menu?
