I heard from a post made by Warloc that Photoshop is indeed quite possible to make portable. My question is, why hasn't anybody had the sense to host something quite so revolutionary?
At the moment I'm experimenting with Regrapper, which I hope will work. Sadly, the instructions are fairly vague right at the most important points, and I can't code, so I'm sort of stuck.
If anyone has ANY information on being able to make photoshop portable for dummies, that would be wonderfully appreciated.
I'm taking a photography class and my teacher said one of her students had portable photoshop. Hopefully she was talking about the right kind and not the fake portability that some programs exhibit. Anyways we will be doing image editing and photoshop is practically a requirement but none of the computers have anything worth more than half a potato.
You can't make Photoshop legally portable. It's a close-source program and it costs money to activate and use. To make it portable would be highly illegal.
For a portable image editor, try GIMP. It has a bit of a learning curve because of the way its interface is layed out, but it is completely free and does almost everything photoshop can.

I remember that Deuce had once made a launcher for photoshop 7. however, he has since removed the link for downloading it, saying that if anyone wanted it, they could email him. I tried that. but he hasn't responded, and the original thread is locked.
Does anyone else have the launcher for Photoshop 7.0?

It's on SmithTech's site, usb.smithtech.us, somewhere under "App Launchers" or sumthin' like that.
And nocr, where did you go, I was wondering earlier today since I hadn't seen you around in a while.

I have the one Duece did. He sent it to me earlier this year. I'll look when I get to work tomorrow.
On a sad note, my work now blocks me from this site.

working for the past month or so. Just a summer gig.
anyways, I checked out his site, and while Smithtech does have a launcher for photoshop, it's for photoshop 6.0, not 7.0, which is the version I have.
Would the launcher for 6.0 would work with 7.0?
unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about NSIS.

I don't think the launcher will work with ver7, the registry entries are probably different.
I don't own a license for any ver newer than 6.0 so I can't make a launcher for them.

You can find just about any version of Photoshop made portable via torrent search engines or a USENET host with 100 day retention. That is to say, versions 6, 7, and CS through CS3. Some are better than others. Many of the CS (Creative Suite) versions have problems dealing with monitor settings and color profiles. Some are betas and crash frequently. The one I use for CS3 is quite stable and has a mini menu at startup that utilizes P-Start. So if at first you don't succeed, keep trying different builds.
If you've spent the several hundred dollars to license Photoshop then there really isn't any need to discuss legalities. It's simply you, as the consumer, using the product *as you desire to use it - Portable.*
Adobe would likely have their own portable version except some suit or suit collection decided there wasn't any money in it.
Those are illegal. Due to Adobe's copyright and trademark policy, you can't even use PS in the name.
