Portable OpenOffice 2.0.1 Released

Submitted by John T. Haller on January 3, 2006 - 7:26pm

Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0.1 has been released. Portable OpenOffice.org is the popular OpenOffice.org office suite -- including a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing package and database -- packaged as a portable app, so you can take your documents along with everything you need to work with them with you. New in this version:

  • OpenOffice.org updated to 2.0.1
  • Full support for Windows 2000
  • Portable settings under Windows 98/Me
  • Mini-Launchers for the individual apps (Writer, Calc, etc)

Get it from the Portable OpenOffice.org homepage at PortableApps.com.

Congrats!

Great job on the app. Sorry if the slashdot effect caused any harm, but it's good to see you're getting recognition for the efforts, eh?

Slashdot and Digg

I think I could have handled one... but both hurt a bit. I was able to keep things mostly up so folks could get the apps, which is the important thing, though. Thanks for getting the word out. Smiling

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks, John!

I've got a Linux box at home, so I save all my docs in ODF format. I frequently go to an Internet cafe that has Windows-only computers. When I needed to print or edit my docs, I had to convert them to MS Office format before going to the cafe, then convert them back at home. Now I don't have to go through any conversion hassles. Portable Firefox is great, too. No more having to click on the blue "E" anymore:)

Again, thanks John!

Excellent

This is amazing. Thanks so much, John!

Bravo! Thank you.

Happy 2006 to you!

Love your portable Apps

I discovered your portable apps while browsing for software earlier this year. I just wish I'd known about them sooner!! I'm a trainer, always on the road, and always using someone else's computer, and having all my stuff running from my flash drive is so convenient !!

Thanks for your great work. Keep it up Smiling

Problem downloading 2.0.1

Uhh, Simeon, the link you have for 2.0.1 does not appear to work. It goes to SourceForge, but nothing downloads. Looks like it's been taken off the server.
