Toucan 2.1.1 Released

Toucan logo Toucan 2.1.1 has been released. Toucan is a tool for advanced users that allows you to sync, backup and secure files on your portable device. This release builds upon the 2.1.0 release with a number of bug fixes and updates. Settings can now also be applied without restarting Toucan. There is also a change to Backup Differential. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format for easy use from any portable device and integration with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free.

Features

Toucan Screenshot Toucan is a small utility allowing you to synchronise, backup and secure your data with more options than the built in suite utilities. Its features include:

Four synchronization modes, copy, update, mirror and equalize.
Four backup modes, complete, update, incremental and restore, in industry standard zip and 7-zip files
AES-256 encryption using ccrypt.
Command line support, allows you to create a batch file for repeated jobs

Important Note - Differential Backup

In previous version of Toucan the Backup Differential mode supported multiple source folders, there is however a bug in this mode that meant the files were not all backed up into a single archive but spread across as many archives as there were source folders. Because of this it is no longer supported, please ensure that your backups are correct and up to date.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Toucan is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.
