FeaturesJava Portable allows you to easily add a Java runtime environment to your portable device. It automatically works with apps in PortableApps.com Format like OpenOffice.org Portable. No Java runtime environment needs to be installed on the local machine and no admin rights are required. The Sun JVM will be downloaded directly from Sun's servers as part of the installation process. Java Portable LauncherIn addition to using Java Portable with portable apps packaged in PortableApps.com Format, you can also use our Java Portable Launcher to run Java apps in JAR format. It will even automatically portablize the settings of many Java apps. Java Portable Apps ComingThis release of Java Portable marks the beginning of Java apps on the PortableApps.com Platform. We have an array of Java-based portable apps in testing and will begin releasing them soon. Thanks & error on update
Thanks for putting this out, John.
However, I'm having an error on updating.
Installation is aborted, with an error of

Could you try this repackaged version:

There is an odd issue on some PCs that interferes with 7-Zip's command line mode, so I've got a workaround in for the next release of the PA.c Installer.

New Error
Hey John,
Note that I have not had problems upgrading Java previous to this using this computer.
This time it errors out with the following:
(Emphasis mine)
That PC
It looks like something on that particular PC is blocking the execution of 7-Zip, no matter what the version. I don't know that there's a way around that for that particular PC. It must be locked down in some different way. Is this a work or school PC? What OS, etc?

Multiple computers
This same problem occurs on multiple computers.
This is a work PC, running Vista w/ admin account.
I have also tried w/ 2 different XP accounts, one on a work computer, one on a personal computer, with the same results.
Looking at processes running, I can't find anything blocking it, and other app installations work fine.
Drive
Is it possible it's your drive? Have you tried installing it locally (C:\PortableApps or even to the desktop)?

Not just the drive
I also tried installing to C:\PortableApps on multiple computers, with the same abort error happening.
Additionally, I thought it might be an issue with updating, so I renamed my Java folder in X:\PortableApps\Commonfiles, and tried installing fresh, but received the error as well.
Maybe it was the drive...
I just updated a different drive, using the original computer, so I'm not sure what the problem was. I'm going to do the easy thing and copy over to my original drive...Thanks, John, for trying to help.
Just a little curious... Do
Just a little curious...
Do you think we could add a selection between JRE and JDK when Eclipse Portable is out?
Siggys waste Bandwidth... that's why I have one.
16?
The JavaPortable.ini says "Version=1.6.0_16".
Shouldnt it be 17?
