Thank You for this great App.

Sometimes making love is just not enough, you have to step it up!

John, can you clarify your comment about WinWGet's incompatibility with Windows 7? I've been using WinWGet Portable with Windows 7 x64 without any problems. In fact, I prefer WinWGet to wxDownload Fast. The former supports input files the latter does not. If you have a lot of files to download you have to enter each url manually in wxDownload Fast. Please keep PortableApps.com's support for WinWGet Portable. Thanks.

I've been unable to get WinWGet portable or local running on Win7 since it came out. Are you running in compatibility mode?

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

No, I'm not running it in compatibility mode. Have other users confirmed that they are also having problems with using WinWGet Portable in WIN7?

The portable version does not work for me on multiple Win7 boxes. The local one works on one but not the other. I'll take another look at it later this week.

I don't think it's the same issues as JTH has, as it starts up fine for me, but on at least 1 Windows XP machine (SP3) it passes WGet different arguments than it should based on the information supplied in the interface, and thus errors out and won't download anything.
So I just don't use it. (DownThemAll downloads faster, and I often have FireFox open anyway. I'll try wxDownloadFast for when I don't have FF open though :))

Thank you for this app. Looking for a portable download manager. This one looks good. Would be better if has more options. But cant expect more from a free & open source software. Smile

entry 'password' appears more than once in group '/config'
file 'wxDonloadFast.ini' and entry 'name' ; index ; and so on...
after download don't add the server's date (WinWGet after download modifying the "created/last modified" date)
but works with some unwanted messages and don't possible to change interface language

I am not able to change the language from the GUI or from the PA.c Platform

Was tired of plugins and besides anything else it broke the philosophy of open source meaning you needed to use a certain browser whereas with this it is standalone.

This was really lacking but now the world has changed yet again.

Cheers!

when using the PA.c app compacter if you select "brute" and then recompress WXDownloadFast it compresses it quite a bit moreI got if from 8.Xmb to a mere 3.0mb, and it works perfectly fine.

John T. Haller's picture

The problem with brute is that it can have issues on some Windows systems/versions and is more likely to break something small within the app that escapes initial analysis. It is also more likely to be tagged a false positive by some antivirus apps. So, while we make the option available in the PA.c AppCompactor for individual use, we don't use it for official releases.

Thanks for the explanation of this I was just trying to get a handle of UPX, since I have only used it a few times before. I was just curious why it was that brute wasn't used instead, now I fully understand why

-EDIT-
Even after decompressing the files from WxDownloadFastPortable making it 8810kb again I compressed it using NRV2E(default) the size was cut down to 4272kb, and still runs in Windows XP and Linux::Wine just as smoothly
