Firefox logoMozilla Firefox®, Portable Edition 3.6.16 (Legacy Edition) has been released in 17 languages. It's the current Mozilla Firefox browser from the older 3.6 release bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app, so you can take your browser, bookmarks, settings and extensions on the go. It's primarily intended for web page testers and the few users using add-ons that have not been updated as all users are encouraged to upgrade to the current Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition 4.0 release. This release will install alongside a current Firefox Portable install in a FirefoxPortableLegacy36 directory by default, though it can also be used to upgrade an existing 3.6.x installation. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. And, as always, it's open source and completely free. Read on for more details...

Auto-Update Issue

If you allow Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition to auto-update, some non-personal files may remain on the local PC. This will be addressed in a later release.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Thank you for still issuing updates to Firefox 3.6 portable. I tried Firefox 4.0 RC2 but didn't like it. The deal-breaker for me was watching videos on the Escapist Magazine website. Videos work fine in version 3.6 but they don't work at all in version 4.0 RC2. The video track does not appear and the audio track stops and starts.

I'll wait for version 4.1.

I watch videos on the Escapist about weekly and they have no issues at all with Firefox 4. Keep in mind that they don't support HTML5 video, so it's up to Flash to play it. If you don't manually install flash (by copying it from a local install) into Firefox 4, it won't work properly.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
