A quick fix to a portablization bug has been added in revision 2.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Hi John,

I don't know if this is related to the portabilization bug or not, but on attempting to install Gramps Portable 3.3.0 Rev 2 on top of Gramps Portable 3.3.0 I discovered that Gramps would no longer run. Reinstalling Gramps Portable 3.3.0 did not appear to have any effect, nor did deleting Gramps Portable 3.3.0 Rev 2 and reinstalling Gramps Portable 3.3.0 from scratch. However, if I reran the install for version 3.2.6 the application would run fine. For all instances, the installation appeared to run fine, with no errors displayed. For the 3.3.0 versions, while I saw the PortableApps Launcher process run, I never saw a GRAMPSPortable process show up in the Windows Task Manager. I was not monitoring the Application tab at the time, but with 3.2.6 I currently see a 'pythonw.exe' app running with a Gramps icon displayed, which I don't recall noticing before. All of this is currently running under MS Windows 7 Home Premium Edition.

If either of the portable 3.3.0 versions are working for anyone, please let me know, so I can attempt to check local issues, but other portable applications appear to be launching and running without any issues.

I would be happy to try collecting any additional information you might need for troubleshooting the problem, just let me know what you would like and whether you would prefer it here or if you would like me to open a new thread on one of the support boards.

Thank you once again for all of the work that you have put into PortableApps and keeping this whole thing running. It's a great product and your efforts have truly been Herculean.

Cheers,

John Joyce

Hi John,
I am having the same issue jrjoyce but I am running Windows XP.
I have checked the event logs to see if there were any entries that might point me the right directions but there were no entries. No messages displayed on screen.
Let me know if I can get any info to you, and I will do my best.
