Firefox logoMozilla Firefox®, Portable Edition 3.6.25 (Legacy Edition) has been released. It's the current Mozilla Firefox browser from the older 3.6 release bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app, so you can take your browser, bookmarks, settings and extensions on the go. It's primarily intended for web page testers as all users are highly encouraged to upgrade to the current Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition 9.0.1 release. This release will install alongside a current Firefox Portable install in a FirefoxPortableLegacy36 directory by default, though it can also be used to upgrade an existing installation. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Platform. And, as always, it's open source and completely free.

Features

portable_firefox_small.pngMozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured web browser that's easy to use. It has lots of great features including popup-blocking, tabbed-browsing, integrated search, improved privacy features, automatic updating and more. Plus, thanks to the PortableApps.com launcher bundled in the Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition, it leaves no personal information behind on the machine you run it on, so you can take your favorite browser along with all your favorite bookmarks and extensions with you wherever you go. Auto-Update Issue

If you allow Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition to auto-update, some non-personal files may remain on the local PC. This will be addressed in a later release.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Download

Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition is available for immediate download from the Mozilla Firefox®, Portable Edition 3.6.x (Legacy Edition) section. Get it today!

Two things I noticed about this download. 1.) The download link doesn't take you directly to the file, but to PortableApps files in general on Sourceforge. You have to find the appropriate directory. I tried both the English and the Hungarian links. 2.) The executable installs over your main Portable version of FireFox instead of replacing the legacy version.

What directories should I move to the legacy directory? Anybody? I really don't want to mess up my FireFox. I use it all the time... Smile

You can reinstall 9.0.1 right over it. I'm rebuilding the installers now. They should begin with FirefoxPortableLegacy36_ not FirefoxPortable_. Sorry about that.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Not a problem, John. Just figured I should point it out since I noticed it. Thank you for all your hard work. Peace, my friend...

I haven't been spending much time on this forum lately, and just noticed this.

I use the latest 9.01 most of the time, but I have the Legacy 3.6 installed also, and need to use it occasionally.

The updater did not update to 3.6.25, and my Legacy 3.6 is still at 3.6.24.

Is it important for me to update this? Will I need to do it the "old way," since the updater did not pick it up?
