My Uber List

Here's a list of programs I'd like to see in a "Tools Section" on PortableApps.

First off, must haves: Ccleaner, and SIW.
It'd also be nice to have DeepBurn, ImgBurn, Notepad++, Paint.net, Comodo, Defraggler, AVG, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster.

Second, this is a list from the USB stick I've been using:

AutoCompress
BruteBenchmark
CCleaner
CDmage
CommTest
DiskImg
DoubleKiller
DriveImage XML
dtaskmanager
encopy
Eraser
ERUNT
explore2fsPE
FileAssassin
Filemon
Hash
HDDScan
ICEECC
Iso-burner
LCISOCreator
LSASecretsView
Patcher
PMMon
ProcessExplorer
ProduKey
Regmon
Restoration
Rootkit Revealer
Sequoia
SIW
TweakUI
UniExtract
virtualcd
WhatChanged
WhyReboot
WirelessKeyView

Finally, this is what I have stored on that stick, that I've yet to make "portable" (non-alphabetized):

Floppy Image
Disk Image
HDTune
MakeMeAdmin
IPNetInfo
Advanced Port Scanner
Advanced IP Scanner

Sandra XL
Shutdown Machine

That should be enough Tools for now.
Next more fun stuff...

A couple of the ones listed

A couple of the ones listed as Not Yet Made Portable are already stand-alone applications, so portable already. Unless you mean that they aren't in PAF yet

- the path i walk is in the wrong direction -

sadly it can never be...

That's a good list of tools, but most of those programs are closed source. The source code isn't really needed but the correct license is. The license on most closed source apps makes it illegal to alter them or redistribute them while software under the open source GPL license lets you do almost anything with it. Releasing closed source apps on this site would require getting permission from each software company to do so. BTW, Notepadd++ and Eraser from your list are already on PortableApps.com. ophcrack is a great open source app and would be handy to the right people but i'm not really sure what this site's stance is on software like that.

That's actually not true

That's actually not true that it can't ever happen...it just can't happen until John finishes setting up the freeware server and works out some legal agreements.

response

I'm not to up to date on which apps I have listed have portable versions or not. I meant "not PAF yet" when I said, "Not Yet Made Portable".
That said there are some portable version in that list that I do use.

About Notepadd++ and Eraser: I should trim the list removing what PortableApps already has.
I've just started using PortableApps. I will get to it though.

It'd be nice to get as much of this stuff as we can, keeping legalities in check. Still some legal agreements could be made.
I wasn't even considering which ones were opensource or not when I wrote the list; not the best idea I admit.
I'll see about organizing opensource and not opensource. That'll make the list much more effective.
