PDFTK Builder Portable 3.2 Pre-Release 1

PDFTK Builder is packaged and compressed courtesy of Simeon. It's a handy tool allowing you to watermark, rotate, password protect, split and do other manipulations to PDF files (such as those you create with OpenOffice.org Portable). This has a couple minor updates from the dev test: official splash screen added and timing altered, unused label removed.

Download PDFTK Builder Portable 3.2 Pre-Release 1 [2.6MB download / 3MB installed]

This is relatively simple compression and packaging into PAF, so testing should be pretty straightforward. If it passes muster, it's going official next week.

Alright

Man, I liked this one.

Don't forgot to update the AppSource.txt before his release. I think we should stick with the:

The source code for the base application in this package can be obtained from the portable applications homepage mentioned in the help.html file.

You had in a few to keep it really generic.

Also, part of the readme is for VLC and the version number in that is wrong.

Also, don't forget a few minor changes in the help.html before official release. Tagline should be lowercase, too. Had to point that one out. Smile

thanks Patrick

for mentioning these. What version number in the Readme are you referring to?
If you mean the "1.41", then you´re wrong. That refers to the version of the underlying commandline utility. pdftk.exe is version 1.41 and the GUI (PDFTKBuilder.exe) is version 3.2.

And thanks John for the Prerelease and the Splash!

If should read

PDFTK Builder Portable Launcher 1.5.6

Because it should be the launcher version number,

Actually, I think we should just ditch the launcher version from the readme. It doesn't really need to be there.

Yea

I saw you did that with KeePass and a couple others, I like it better.

I think

its better to have the Apps version there.
Its good to have it in the help.html but I think it needs to be in the Readme too. Or at least that's where I'd expect it. For me a Readme is one of the first places I look if I want to find out more about an application so I think its reasonable to have it there.

Yea, That'll Work

To have the App version, just not the launcher version. Cause no one really does care about the launcher version which is supposed the be what's there (in the readme).

Readme is for launcher

The readme is for the launcher, not the app itself. So it shouldn't have the app version in there. The help.html is the readme for the portable app, which is why it does have the app version in there.

OK

I didn't know that. Thanks for the clarification. in that case it makes sense to drop the number.

Program works good but help does not in vista

I've tested this with Vista Ultimate. With the testing I've done I've found that the program works good.

However, I did try Help -> Contents and got the following error:

"The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which was used in previous versions of Windows and it is not supported in Windows Vista."

While the help problem with the help menu has nothing to do with the program's portability I thought I would mention it regardless

Isn´t very stable with bigger files (20 to 30 pages),

crashes atleast in 2 of 3 attempts when switching between the Gui tabs and in special when selecting the files for stamp / background adding?
I´ll try another download..

Ready for Release

This seems ready for release. Your page to edit is up here:
https://portableapps.com/apps/office/pdftk_builder_portable

If you can get me a 128px or 96px logo you'd like and the screenshots (800x600 or less and a 200px wide resize using either the Royale Noir or Zune Windows XP theme) I'll add them in. As soon as the page is up, we can release.

Oh, and if you want a more custom announcement, send it my way. Otherwise it'll just be the intro, features, etc like mine are.

cool

Thanks John.

Ill see if I can find or make a high-res logo. I have Linux installed so I´d be happy if you could make the screenshot. Ill edit the site and post back.

I just saw that the Appsource.txt needs change as it has the old link to the source. And the help.html, appinfo.ini, installer source and Launcher source have the wrong homepage.

Ready

John I adjusted the page and sent you an Email (subject: PDFTK Builder is ready) with the screen shot. Unfortunately I don't have a big icon. Is there someone who could do one? It would be great!

I got it

I made the one in the splash. Should be good enough.

You want a custom announcement or me to just gel it from the intro and features?

No

I don't think a custom announcement is needed. I have other things atm and would be happy if you could just do the standard thing.
Thanks.
