I have updated my portable version of CamStudio to comply with the latest launcher specs etc.

Description: CamStudio is able to record all screen and audio activity on your computer and create industry-standard AVI video files and using its built-in SWF Producer can turn those AVIs into lean, mean, bandwidth-friendly Streaming Flash videos (SWFs)

Release Notes:
Please note that this is not upgradeable to the 2.5 beta 1 currently available at CamStudio.org. If required I will provide a beta file set for 2.5 beta 1, although until it is finished it would have to be for testing use only and not everyday use. Until then I recommend you stay with 2.0.

Development Test 2 (2008-03-09):

  • updated readme.txt
  • defaulted fade in to 0
  • added appsource.txt

Development Test 1 (2008-03-08):

  • initial release

Here's the small stuff I check for:

  • In the Other\Source\readme.txt, only the first directory setup is supported now, and remove the version number from the first line.
  • In all of the source files, the 200 on line 183 should be changed to 0 as we're dropping fade-ins.
  • You're missing an Other\Source\AppSource.txt.

I think that's it, just some better icons and you're good it all looks good from what I check out.

I've just tried launching it on my pc at work, and it launches without problem. I'll have to wait until I get home to do some more in depth testing....I don't think work would like me potentially saving proprietary information in avi or swf format and taking it home with me.

Same 404 error here on my end. I clicked tanisthalon's website where i was notified that it was close and then clicked on the link to portable apps and i was back to portableapps.com's mainpage. I'll capture the cycle next time using CamStudio. :rollseyes: :grin:

But how sure are you that the package is gone, or what do you mean by that? Are you the same person who posted the package for beta-testing or at least a co-developer to it?

Well, the package is still linked from the Development Test Releases section and not even in the "outdated" category and then you tell us that it's gone.

I've got copies of all of tanisthalon's stuff on http://cubegames.net/downloads/ to download.

The version of CamStudio Portable I have is at http://cubegames.net/downloads/CamStudioPortable_2.0.paf.exe and is the latest, I think.

Is there any way to include the compression codec? The program works, however, it saves files in HUGE sizes because they are not being compressed at all.

I apologize but currently I cannot support or maintain CamStudio Portable. Hopefully as I get further into my current projects in the real world, I can get back to supporting some of the more popular ones that I am/was involved with.

I don't have a problem with you taking it over as I cannot confirm as and when I can actually be more productive with it. The little time that I do have available I want to put into Blender Portable at this point in time.
