how are portable applications made? Like mozilla for instance, did the firefox team make the portable version or did someone else do it? If so how? Thanks, »

Using application launchers
Check out the Development section (in progress). Basically, John has created a small program which runs firefox (and the other programs) using special built-in commands that allow it to work portably.
Firefox itself hasn't been changed and the full source code is available for the program that's launching it.
