How to install to Web Folder

tedmasterweb - March 19, 2008 - 6:46pm

Hi,

I have a remote hard drive I access via https (WebDAV). I would like to install portable apps on my remote hard drive. However, when I run the installer, although I'm able to select the drive from the browse window, the Install button is never highlighted (clickable).

Also, I'd map the drive to a letter (as a work-around) but XP doesn't support this, especially when using SSL.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks in advance.

When you can map your drive

When you can map your drive to a letter for read and write access, you might be able to do what you want. Could be pretty slow.

You could install to a local drive and then copy the whole directory to your webdav drive, and see if you can get it to work. All the installer does, really, is copy files in a convenient way.

Indeed, it could be

Indeed, it could be extremely slow, but as internet speed increases, it could become feasible, and the geek in me just wanted to give it a try...

Thanks for the thoughts.
