The Disk is Write Protected?

I now need my flash drive for other purposes. When I tried to "Delete" or "Format" all I get is "Disk is Write Protected". I've been through every menu my pea sized brain can find and I can't find where to unprotect my flash drive. Please help.

Switch

Some drives have a write protection switch on them. Check for that. Failing that, reboot your PC, then plug in the drive and right-click and select format before opening up the drive and looking at the contents.

Disk write protected.

Thanks !

I had never seen that before, plus I got double bagged. The switch blended into the side of the drive (same color) and the case or jacket had become loose, so every time I pushed it into the port it was turning the write protect on. None of the other three jump drives in our household even have that feature. You're a HERO, John.

Drive Support

It's specific to your drive, so you'll need to ask your manufacturer or see their website.
