msys (portable unix on windows)

http://www.mingw.org/ is the home page. the installer needs a bit of work but it's mostly portable now.

mingw != msys

hey what do you know? msys and mingw are not the same thing. sure they are dev-ed by the same people and are related projects but they aren't the same thing. which would be why I didn't search for mingw

Hmm, never heard of this fork

Hmm, never heard of this fork of Cygwin, I might look into it. Maybe I could get better performance for my SSH2 server on my Windows system.
