Environment Variables
carlb - April 13, 2008 - 11:32am
Have I misunderstood something or is there not support for environment variables in Toucan? This would be greatly appreciated if it is not already supported.

Indeed
there is, simply wrap the environment variable name in @ signs e.g. @TEMP@ and you should be set
'...and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard...' JFK
Env. Variables Still Working in release 2.1.1??
I wonder if the new vesrion still support Windows environment variables.
The version I used is 2.1.2. runnig on the Windows XP prof (SP3).
1) use the Rules tab to set up the rule "rule-01" as follow: #- Folder to exclude: c:\ #- Location always include (...) @userProfile@\My Documents\back-002 2) Switch to Backup tab to check the "rule-01" works or not a) select the "rule-01" in Rules box b) highlight C: and then press '+' to add 'C:' to File to Backup c) press Preview button d) navigate to the parent diretcoty of the back-002 directory e) the color of back-002 is still redThe result shows enviromrnt varible "userProfile" is not working.
Have I missed sth?
Tim
Thanks
for the feedback, Toucan currently doesn't support variables inside rules, I will get it added for the next release however, then you should find it works fine
'...and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard...' JFK
Thank
for your effort. It is a nice tool.
In Pre-Release-3
I found the varibles inside rules are supported. Looking forward to the stable release. Thanks!
