Application: Pwytter
Category: Internet
Description: Pwytter is an Open Source Twitter application that allows you to send and receive tweets (messages on Twitter) to and from your friends. It is in development currently, so features are being added and perfected.
Help needed
When you download the app, it's going to become apparent that the icon needs some work. It's really small and basic, and needs to be replaced. If anyone would be so gracious to create a new icon, that would be great. Thanks.

First run, I received an error when attempting to launch:
And here is the logfile contents:|
Give me a moment. I'll check something. Yup, that's it, just add a
SetOutPath "$EXEDIR\App\pwytter"
before eachExecWait
. Did you try it before releasing. ;PAnd now for the rest of the usuals. I'll go create a Twitter account after this.
That's it! Nicely done, and nice app choice. I hope it doesn't get be hooked on Twitter.
I tried it out, yes. It worked just fine for me. I'll take a look at it, but I had no problems.
I thought I did a pretty good job of cleaning everything up, but I'll fix all that. Thanks for cleaning up my act.
BTW, do you have a cold or something? "I hope it doesn't get be hooked on Twitter." In case you try Twitter out, follow me.

That's funny, because I actually do have a cold.
I just got the same 'See logfile...'
Log reads:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "pwytter.py", line 964, in ?
File "Tkinter.pyc", line 1448, in wm_iconbitmap
_tkinter.TclError: bitmap "media\pwytter.ico" not defined

I've fixed that, and hopefully I'll be able to upload development test 2 later today.

I wanna test this and see if it's any better than Snitter.

Development test 2 has been released. This release should fix all bugs, and it adds some features in the launcher not previously available. Thanks for any feedback.

I like this client. I use Twhirl usually which at times can have too many features. Keep it simple and focused on Twitter. Nice if it could be minimized to the tool tray.
for 5 minutes or so now, and I love it! Sure it could use a little polishing up, but lightweight and effective.
It's working for me (only at home). Firewall at work seems to block the refreshing so some proxy setting options would be helpful since this is meant to be portable. I wish it would minimize to the system tray and could monitor multiple twitter accounts but overall it works nicely. thx!
The link provided does not get me to the download.
everything on that server was temporarily messed up. the owner is working to fix the issue

I was just able to download the install file. Thanks!
A good deal of the time ppl run portable apps because they are in IT lockdown. In order to do this, we need to be able to add a proxy for Pwytter to go through. Will this be available in the future?
I can't really do anything about that. I didn't develop Pwytter, I just made the app portable. I can't say whether that feature will be added in the future though.
And if you're interested in other Twitter apps, I'm looking for alternatives to Pwytter, because it seems to be out of development now.

Thanks very much, I'm flattered.

Just installed 0.8 Test 2 on my micro Cruzer drive.
I can not manage to get the portable app to start with my personal Twitter username/password. The contents of the pwytter.xml are not being picked up. I am assuming there must be some sort of path error in the INI or somewhere but I have not been smart enough to chase it down.
Twitter changed their API around a few days ago, and if I'm correct Pwytter will no longer work. The Pwytter website looks rather dead, so I'm going to have to abandon this project until anyone can find a good open source Twitter client. The actual Twitter site will have to suffice for now, unfortunately.

Julio is actively working on rewriting Mitter with some awesome multi-network support. When it's released, it's all yours.
I'll keep an eye out for the release.

just loaded it for the first time just a few minutes ago, and it worked fine for me, i use vista, on this specific computer which is not my own, its home premium, and loaded fine, no errors, and love it so far...very nice theme, the black one... i will definately be using this quite often when im at school...ROFL...heres hoping its not blocked, so in case it is, if you can and might consider it, could you possible configure it to run using a proxy maybe... just a thought... and if you could also make it so that you can view twitter somehow within it, like maybe using a tab... i dont know, but i think that might be nice...your choice...
overall i love the app so far...GREAT WORK..
5/5
please and thank you...

Glad you like it, but I didn't write the app, I just made it portable.
As I said earlier, the actual Pwytter project (not the portable project) seems to be dead, so I'm looking around for alternatives that will hopefully be a bit better and more appealing than Pwytter.

Couldn't you just use the twitter logo: http://www.afcanberra.com.au/Portals/AFCanberra/images/images/Twitter_lo...
It really look promising... Still now works fine... I hope that in future it will have functionality like TweetDeck or Seesmic
Now I'm using TweetDeck for normal use and Pwytter for testing... So will update if will have any issues.
EDIT: Does anybody is still working on this app?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1882171/pwyttericon.zip there is all the icons you should need.
