Hey Brian

Im going to take the splash screen off for the portable apps version, that ok?

Stephen A. Warren

That sounds good to me, two

That sounds good to me, two splashes seems a bit redundant.

The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705

Yea

So, im going to make a portable apps version without the splash screen and ill put the link on my site. you'll set it cause it will say portable apps by it or something or another

Stephen A. Warren

OK

BTW, I think you should be keeping the splash up longer, I could barely see it when it loaded on my PC. Nice work on this.

yea

useless

Flagging an app as 'tested' is not very useful as long as you don't deliver the results of your tests.

tested = good?

We'd pretty much assume that if no problems are reported and an app is tested than there's no problems encountered...

though it might be helpful to know _WHAT_ was tested and worked?

/sylikc

Well, it works well

Well, it works well on my computer, no problems

Well

If it works well doesn't really clarify anything. Did you try it on a different comp? Did it leave any settings behind? Did the installer work properly those are all things that were working for. Just because it seems to work okay doesn't mean it's working perfectly. On you next test please try to give a little more information about how you tested and what the results were. No offence but the statement *Tinker Tested* really isn't of much use.

I checked out

I checked out the Other\Source\Readme.txt and saw..
The Keyfinder Portable Launcher allows you to run Task Coach from a removable drive...
I don't know if it should say that.
I'm going to try it on some other computers when I have time...

lol

LOL no it shouldn't say that. That's the kind of stuff that needs to be reported and if it leaves anything behind registry or otherwise. That kind of stuff. And testing on more than one computer is definately a pain so a better alternative if you want is a virtual machine. My favorite is this one. It's open source and all that good stuff. So you can test on more than one machine without changing desks. Thanks for testing!

true that... i forgot

Jacob,

You're right, I forget that we are more interested in how it works in the PortableApps format than the program working. I often forget that when testing. I'll remember to report those results next time I test an app too!

Thanks,
/sylikc

Thanks

It's always appreciated when people test the apps. It's good to do a little testing on the main app and if there are errors to report them to their maker. Just remember most of us didn't make the apps we just made the launchers so we have no control of any of the actual program's bugs. Thanks for testing the apps.

I tried this out on my work

I tried this out on my work computer (Windows XP SP3) and my laptop (also WinXP SP3) and it works flawlessly as far as I can tell, but I don't know where to look to see if it leaves anything behind. Any help in that area would be greatly appreciated. I use a lot of these Beta programs (some every day) and can let you know if the programs themselves perform properly. I'd like to be a little more help than that if I can though.

Well

Well guys i hope u enjoy the program... its definitely been fun making it... There will be a new version of the program out here in about a week or so...

This version will have several new serial keys and will also decrypt Adobe cs2 serial keys...

We try to be %100 accurate...

Still active?

Just did a search for this and well here it is : ) Is development still active or is anyone likely to take it up?

Write Testing

How would I go about monitoring the files this program writes to, to see if it leaves anything behind? I tried using Process Monitor and filtering for keyfinder and the CreateFile access, except CreateFile also seems to include read access as I get many entries for system files. Googling for methods of seeing what a program writes to doesn't turn up much other than Process Monitor and the old File Mon, and going through the code line by line for file operations.

EDIT: The only files I know it creates for sure are prefetch files, but I don't know if you can prevent windows from creating those.

No Probs

I Am Using Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 And It shows the serial and other apps i have installed on the pc

Can't get it to launch from the Portable Apps menu.

I have tried this on a Vista Business (Sp1) as well as a XP Pro (Sp3).
I am not able to get it to launch from the PortableApps menu.
I can get it to launch if I explore to the drive into the PortableApps\KeyFinderPortable\ folder.
