Portable Stepmania (DDR With a keyboard)

Ok, You can find the program on "http://www.Stepmania.com" and it is without a doubt addicting, it does support dance pads, but you can use the keyboard.

The songs, note skins, and skins for the program can all be downloaded from the actual website, or from other sites, I have tried tons of sites, and never gotten a virus.

When i saw they were making Frets On Fire portable I was like, Hey if they do that, Make a stepmania one Biggrin

Please post and ideas you have

Hi

and welcome to PortableApps Smile

Although you might be right with what you say, there is no need to call someone "n00b". We try to be nice around here and help people and not yell at them.
So please refrain from these sort of comments in the future. Thank you.

Respectfully,
Simeon

Actually...

Actually, StepMania is NOT portable. Not completely.

Yes, you can take all of your songs and the program itself with you on a portable drive, but your profile, high scores, keymappings, etc. Are all saved locally on the PC you are using. I have about 5 different profiles on 5 different PCs due to constantly moving between home, work, school and friend's houses. Every new PC I crack SM open on has to create a new cache and I have to reconfigure everything from default.

I believe Chris Danford (lead [only?] developer) stated that the next releases (SVN) will be "portable" in the true sense that all the saved data will be stored in your game folder.

Perhaps you could try asking the developers of OpenITG (SM 3.95 on steroids, without the bugs) or SM 3.9+ (a mix between 3.9 and 4.0 [NOT 3.95!!!]) if they will add portability to their projects?

Latest version + portable

Agreed on the appdata part. However I've gotten it to work using PAF launcher. Leaves APPDATA clean. v 5.0. Someone regshot it please? Click here for link.
