pidgin portable 2.5 with otr and spell check

innomen - August 26, 2008 - 9:45pm

So I'm assuming pidgin is NEVER going to come with encryption and spellcheck, and every version upgrade means a half hour fight to make them work, if at all. Is that a fair bet?

Are you sure?

OTR and Pidgin Encryption are both available in my Pidgin Portable 2.5, and I know that I didn't install them after I upgraded. So, they should be causing you any problems when you upgrade. I've been wondering about spell checking myself though.

Ah, I see...

I did some checking on the spell checking feature and I now know why it wasn't working. I didn't have aspell installed.

Is there a reason why there isn't an Aspell portable or, at least, a portable installer package for Pidgin. I saw where John said that the dictionaries are not open source (but I couldn't find that on the Aspell website), but couldn't an installer be provided with a link to download the necessary dictionaries?

Just a thought.

Thanks for the wonderful apps!
