PicardTagger [Music Tagger]

Devo - September 22, 2008 - 8:04am

Application: PicardTagger

Category: Music Tagger

License: GPL

Description: Picard is the next generation MusicBrainz tagging application. This new tagging concept is album oriented, as opposed to track/file oriented like the ClassicTagger was. Picard is written in Python, which is a cross-platform language, and makes use of cross-platform libraries - this allows the same code to run both on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

I'll try this. Report back

Siggys waste Bandwidth... that's why I have one.

Interesting namesake

They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further! And I will make them pay for what they've done! -Jean-Luc Picard, Star Trek: First Contact

An interesting character to name a program after, to say the least. I never would have thought I'd see a program called "Picard". Ol' Jean-Luc does like his music, but more classical and jazz (e.g. stuff Paramount didn't have to pay royalties on), not what people mostly listen to today. (And the quote isn't an example of formatting abuse, that's pretty much how the line is read. Not often he raises his voice, but not only does he raise his voice, he smashes a display case with gold-plated starships.)

+1 here. One of my most often used pieces of software.

What's up?

Is there any progress on this software?

It seem to do a unique job, and would be a nice addition to stuff here.
