portableappz.com (i think it does have viruses)

I saw an old blog asking if portableappz.com was illeagal because it might have TM infringement and i saw that other people thought that it might carry viruses/spyware. So yeah, my virus-detector found out that it does carry viruses. don't go to it...

http://portableapps.com/node/

https://portableapps.com/node/15864 (legal/illegal tm infringment link)

According to WOT:
http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/portableappz.blogspot.com
Siteadvisor:
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/portableappz.blogspot.com?ref=safe&clie...

As you can see, WOT,Siteadvisor don't show any problems on portableappz.blogspot.com. No comments, no user reactions etc.

What antivirus software? Maybe if we try to upload it on virustotal.com, we may be able to know which antivurs software detects it as virus.

i also was tempted

and took an old laptop and started download some of the apps published there.

OK, they are kind of paf packed, since apparently prepared with some of those portable app creators.

But not all is tested apparently, some apps simply do not work that way, since need to be run as service and not all reg files are copied correctly etc.

To me it did not appear that any virus etc is there, checked files also on virustotal, no problem.

Those apps I downloaded are apperently warezd and work without any keys.

Yeah I'm sure. Though I had a tonne of stuff from there at one point, Ive largely downsized my payware portables collection. Everythin I've scanned there has come up clean. Also with regards to keys, I'm guessing you mean serial keys and such. Every app I used came already registered. Anyway I recommend only using payware portables when the function is NOT offered by any open source or freeware alternative. I think this way by using it and reporting any bugs things get up to and beyond the standard of payware that much quicker. eg. Firefox, Songbird, BonkEnc, VLC, Open Office, etc etc.

The fact is the software is illegal. However this site offers similar tools guilt free : )

Also be careful with some of the system tools and anti-malware ports. Though I don't know whether or not they work as they are supposed to I suggest caution. Without any system for reporting bugs, left over registry entries and such like PA.com has, there is the chance that some of the stuff is leaving behind information. Thinks about this when using them.Still I give my thanks to the makers who are undoubtedly PA users or developers. Cheers.

Please note the difference

Please note the difference between your site, portableappz.com with a z and ours, PortableApps.com with a s. If you have located spware/malware/viruses, etc. your problem is with them, and not with us.

Portableappz.com...

...is probably a virus. However, Portableapps.blogspot.com is not a virus site or anything. I downloaded from it before and nothing is wrong with the dl's or anything like that.

Although most of its' downloads are probably illegal.

Topic Locked

I noticed this post started going into the topic of warez, which is not permitted in out forums. It was also rather disappointing as the comments were partially by a fairly long-time and upstanding member of out community.

I have locked the topic to avoid further discussions of warez, and please do not continue it elsewhere.

Thank you to the original poster for informing us and the community of viruses and trademark infringements as I'm sure it was all good intentions.
