lulz. dutch.
Gratis is Dutch for Free
So by the sounds of it.
He is thanking PA for the Free Software.
I would've
guessed some sort of software. There is an Open Source installation software call "WinLibre", if I didn't know better, I'd guessed it was an offshoot or update of the WinLibre program.
Open Source...., the choice of a GNU generation.
No, Software Gratis just
No, Software Gratis just means "Free (as in beer) Software". Free Software in the traditional sense (i.e. open-source) is "Software Libre".
The only problem is, there are several problems.
...
Oh! My bad :S

he's...
he's just telling that he loves open source software and of course "gratis" means free so i am even dutch to
Nei
I'm going to start a history discussion with Oni-Neoxes and Hamm46 but the word "gratis" in Dutch comes from the original word "gratis" in Spanish... which have the same meaning but it's a lot more ancient...
(Just going off-topic for fun...)
If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
No... no... ;)
The word gratis probably comes from the ancient language that was shared across all Europe, that then was forked in Latin and all of the other ones and then was implemented in all Mediterranean languages, like Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, ?French? and other European languages like Dutch. So:
Si, el software gratis (que también es libre) aquí es mui bueno, e mi spaniol no lo presta.
Sim, o software grátis (que também é livre) aqui é muito bom, e eu sou falante nativo de português.
Photoshop? No… I use GIMP. No, It's not pirate. No, I didn't pay for it. It is possible! Because it's free. Yes, free! Ok! Stay with your pirated Photoshop!!! Idiot…
Nei opnieuw ;-)
Of course there isn't a pure language, all of them have some words "imported" from others but remember that the actual land of the Netherlands and Belgium was once part of a Spanish Empire... there are some words in Dutch that I easily understand because of that heritage/influence... I still remember the first time I saw a Dutch news paper advertising "cellphone gratis"... I thought "Hey! I speak Dutch"...
One of my hobbies is History...

While Spanish, French, Portugese, Italian, and Latin are all closely related (the Italic family), they are quite distinct from the Germanic Family, which includes German, Dutch, Swedish, and Danish (and English!).
However, throughout the centuries, through war, migration and fashion, words tend to cross from one language to another.
Gratis is one of those simple, elegant words from Latin that has made its way into many other languages. Curiously, it never became popular in English, so we're stuck with the word "free" - which has two meanings.
Harmony and understanding; sympathy and trust abounding;
Mystic crystal revelations and the mind's true liberation.
gratuitous & gratuity
is a variation that's in the english language. Gratuitous violence, 10% gratuity, etc. So it kind of made it to english.
Open Source...., the choice of a GNU generation.
Oh No!
I fail at History though
D:
dutch isn't latin
dutch doesn't come from latin or spanish or french or wath ever kind of latin languages like english they come from the german language family and spanish is from latin
like this example
in dutch "goeden dag" it's in german like this " guten tag"
and in french it sounds like this "bon jour"
in italian its like this " bonjourno"
you see the first words comes from the german language family
the second one is from the latin language family you know wath i mean?
umm, okay?
Wow, Only 2 words started this all
O_o
I think
this thread is going very off topic. Maybe a mod could move it there if no one disagrees...
