Dude this is open source stuff. It is done when it is done. Everyone does this in their spare time. Not trying to be rude just try not to request updates. And welcome to PortableApps.com
Thanks,

The updates are slooooooow. It's better just to go out and grab a copy yourself. Notepad++ 5.1 has been out since the 25th of October. I'm not going to wait for a launcher to be made which is not even necessary to begin with. Common case for a lot of these portable apps. If an update comes along and a launcher is really needed, in most cases you can just download the original app and overwrite the older one. I just don't like the portable app launcher, or the PAF at all, way to cluttered.
I'm not knocking any of the users who help create portable applications. Having portable software at hand is all that really matters to me. That's the reason I even use this website.
The only reason there's a delay with an app of more than a day or two is when there is an issue with the upgrade/portablization (as is the case with Notepad++ 5.1 which is a step backwards in terms of functionality for some due to loss of over 50% of the plugins as discussed here) or when it's a major upgrade and we put it through extra testing (as we're doing with OpenOffice.org 3 as with the OpenOffice.org Portable 3 Pre-Release).
Please don't go off on slow upgrades without looking around a bit first. Nearly all apps here are updated within 2 days of a standard release and we make a point of testing our stuff instead of just rushing it out.
Some apps like Notepad++ are kinda portable and some folks are fine using them as-is knowing that the recently used file list won't work, the explorer and other plugins will forget the directories used, registry keys are left behind on each PC you use it on and the data is in the app directory and not as easily backed up.

I heard unconfirmed rumors that an early Alpha would get posted on Monday, so who knows, we might see an early Alpha of the latest menu this week. But it could be as well take several months for any new Alpha would be posted.
Nobody besides the menu developers has a clue how far the menu has come since the last official version. But there are about 4 people working on the menu (I guess) and looking at the speed they used to work on on the unofficial mods, a lot might have been implemented.
Having said that, I hope some versions will be posted in the coming months as they are because that will mean progress. I don't know if there's any source repository of the current version around...
I do think that with the unofficial Mod34 being done why dont the developers of the official PA suite just support it or use it as a platform to build on. Seems strange to me that the mod 34 app is not supported now. (Its been done for them so y dont they use it).
I like the mod 34 patch allot. It has all the features everyone wants the next official version to have.

The developer of the R34 mod is now on the official menu development team. They're working through some minor bug fixes, and getting features from several of the different mods to play nice with eachother. Originally, the PortableApps.com Menu was being developed by John alone. He brought on the developers of several of the mods to work with him on the official menu.
He never said it was a requirement. He means a SVN repository, so the 4(?) developers can collaborate on the coding the PortableApps.com Menu. Without a repository to work it, it's pretty darn hard to have 4 guys working on the same project.
The mod was first developed by user netdroid9, who maintianed it up to R15, after which xrxca started his own release, jumping to R20 to differentiate. The last release maintained by xrxca was R30. John Smith (?) - aka SmithTech - released his own bugfix, R31, later going on to make the third mod, SmithTech Portable Menu, which, if i am correct, is a mod of the original mod.
Most recently, NeoRame and MrElchbau have been updating the mod for use with the themes available on the PTC site, the latest update from them brings PAM Mod to R34.
The devs of the three mods (i think: xrxca, maggotb0y, and SmithTech) are now working on the main menu with John, so most of the features in the mods will eventually become part of the main PAM.
Well, that's my abridged history of the mod, if anyone has anything to add or clarify, just say so.
Nice job man. NeoRame should put that on their site for a history

Here's a little rant on this website.

I don't know what I'm talking about half the time, I'm surprised the rubbish I post gets a sensible response.
Thanks for clearing that up.

The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
But there's still no repository found on SourceForge...
No repository of what?
Since when is it a requirement for an application to be hosted on SourceForge?

It sorta sounded like if it doesn't do SourceForge, it isn't legitimate.
Thanks for clearing that up.

This is very good news as I'm also a big supporter of R34.
Glad to hear that they are now pulling in the same direction.
Thanks

Who is the developer of the mod menu anyway?
isnt it John?
which John?
"What about Love?" - "Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate." - Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate
It's not John.
Either John.
I know that for sure, 100% sure actually.
If it was John then why did he make a seperate menu? Why didn't he just make the mod menu the official menu?

...np, just pulling things out of the mental memory bank.
I'll be looking from time to time for an update to the PA Menu then
I have not seen anything yet Can someone post the next link here so i can find it
