You can copy your local German OO.o install into the portable version. Just copy the contents of C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org2 to PortableOpenOffice\openoffice (after clearing the directory). It'll be a bit bigger since it isn't compressed, though, but it'll work just fine.
What say that you dont have OpenOffice installed on your PC - various work issues. I am using Japanese XP Pro and want to change OO from English to Japanese - or preferrably have both sitting there together. I have seen a couple of posts that say, e.g. the following:
It's too simple to add support to another languages in Portable OpenOffice. Just install a language pack wath you need. Download the language pack from http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/
and install normally, indicating the correct path during installation
"your pendrive\PortableOpenOffice\openoffice"
After, you configure the correct language in Tools/Options menu.
Hi,
I have copied the original open office version into the portable version and it works fine, but now it is 248MB.
Can anybody explain, howto strip down this localized version near by the original size of the english portable version.
Copy it

Hello everybody.
Just copy all the files as above. And then you got openoffice.org in your own language.
SUPER!!
Thanks again.
I still have a question

I have looked looked at the openoffice folder and see the following folders:
help
licenses
presets
program
readmes
share
Ok, into which folder do I install that
oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/2.0.1rc5/
please?
I sure would appreciate your advice on this please.
