Opera

I have a USB version of Opera 9.62 but the 9.63 version has the security updates. Is there a portable 9.63 that I haven't found yet and/or will letting usb opera9.62 auto update destroy portablility?

Official portable Opera

Is this the recommended site to obtain a package to install? While I really like Firefox, the performance issues of FF3 make it almost unusable on a USB. And with the pending EOL of FF2, it might be time to try something else out.

I'm sure Safari is not an option as it would run under the same restrictions as iTunes. Haven't heard much good about Chrome yet, so I guess I'm going to give Opera a try. Any other opinions out there?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

AFAIK it´s the site you can rely on

The developper has allowance by opera.com and U3 to build the packages. It´s definitely no warez site and the updates come as fast as you are you used to on PortableApps.com. Nevertheless it´s not open source, so opera@usb can´t be hosted here.

I've been using Opera@USB for a while now and I really like it. It doesn't auto-update, but it does update when desktop Opera does. You can go to the site and download the update. It's a great program and really quick.

I wouldn't use the auto

I wouldn't use the auto update on these portable programs.

you should be backing up your Profile setting anyway

Okay, I seem to have fixed it...

My problem was, that instead of the operaUSB launcher showing up, a file called GSAR came up in the menu. I deleted that file, and it works now. that file wasn't necessary at all, was it?

.

That file IS very necessary, without that file you break the portability.

I fixed it.
Copy/pasting from the original zip archive to where it is on my USB would work right? cuz that's what I did...

GSAR is used by the launcher to fix the paths when you move Opera between different computers or directories...
