Proxy?

This is probably due to your trying tto update from behind a proxy or firewalled connection. Try from another location and it should work. I have the same thing happen if I try to update from work or Tafe. Update from home and if that does not work try a internet cafe. Also might help to know there is a proxy get tool somewhere here on the site that tells you the proxy setting of the network your on.

Good luck Smile

cant update either

after installing the app it demanded a database update
which wouldnt run
carefull reading of the log suggested that the app version itself was out of date & needed a fresh list of places to look for database updates

this i've done i think

i still get the same basic error messages about bogus loops etc

here it is the full text

Update failed. Your network may be down or none of the mirrors listed in c:\docume~1\public\locals~1\temp\tmppikmk4 is working. Check http://www.clamav.net/support/mirror-problem for possible reasons

i d/l version
Download 0.94.1 Rev 2
Windows, English
6MB download / 25MB installed Download Details
from https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/clamwin_portable
there is of course no c:\docume~1\public\locals~1\temp\tmppikmk4

plus plus plus blah blah blah

i easily spent 4 hours on this now & i aint too happy.

whats the problem?
is it easily sdolvible?
or should i seek another solution for my virus checking needs?

i've no hope of solving problems like proxys etc for loads of reasons to dull/complex to describe here, ..., just assume that i'm a very stupid person

thanks in advance

Ignore

As has been stated in other topics, you can ignore the OUTDATED message. ClamAV is updated first (which is when the warnings start), then ClamWin is updated. Only then can we update the portable package.

I just tried updating and it worked fine for me. Sounds like an issue on your network end, which isn't something we can do much to fix. You can keep trying. Or you can manually download the definitions here:
http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/58/27/

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Probably proxy

I agree with horusofoz comment that it is probably a proxy problem. My ClamWin reported the same errors as yours; fixed by sorting out the proxy settings.

Clamwins Servers?

Could it be on ClamWins end? I had the same problem earlier this week and I'm not using a proxy. But... I was able to get the updates the next day.

Me? Yep

But, I'm also on dial-up, that could have been the problem as well. I have encountered this before, but not frequently. It's not a big issue for me, I just replied to give another possible reason to OP.
