The Frets On Fire game that has been created is a piece of crapola. I follow the download and install instructions exactly and have retried it several times but when i open it up using portable apps my anti virus software pops up about 3-4 messages at which point the app says an error has occurred and fails to open. What they should do is make a working version.
for one thing it isn't crap. secondly what is occuring is your antivirus is flagging it either as a false positive or your network isn't downloading it properly. So next time please ask you can solve this instead of bashing.

Or you can buy Guitar Hero for your pc or play frets on fire for FreE
While Guitar Hero 3 was made for the PC, it's horrible. I have an AMD64 3200+, 1GB of RAM, and 256MB GeForce 6600 and it lagged badly. Turns out it lags on quad cores, just because it's a terrible port.
Frets on Fire does happen to be pretty bad even if it does work as advertised, but it is the best Guitar Hero style game you're going to find on the PC.
I don't know why, but there seems to be an unspoken agreement in the world of video game development that rhythm games are strictly console only. Activision did submit a PC version of Guitar Hero World Tour to the ESRB (it was rated T just like the other versions) but no release date has been set. It hasn't even been announced that there is a PC version, just that Activision got one rated, that's it. I do know that being console-only, the DLC for Guitar Hero and Rock Band games has yet to be pirated, which the RIAA loves, but that doesn't mean we can't get a DLC-free game for the PC, and they just release a lot of sequels (aka DLC packs) like they do on the PlayStation 2 and Wii. But there is NO reason that Guitar Hero, or even Rock Band, couldn't be done on a PC. No technological reason anyway. These games are far simpler than, say, Halo 3 or Gears of War, in terms of processing power. They're really little more than puzzle games, closer to Tetris than any other popular game.
I had the same problem when it's not opening up so I fixed it myself. I had to move all the Mods to a different folder. That's all I did.
So all of you have said that there have been some problems, yet you have not given any error messages that appear, or a description of the problems, if you give us those, then we can help otherwise you are on your own
Please search before posting. ~Thanks
