How do I change the location Pidgin stores/reads settings from?

Terron - March 10, 2009 - 2:32am

Apparently regular pidgin has a -c command line argument, but the launcher doesn't support this. I want to change the settings directory to be on a truecrypted drive since the passwords are stored plaintext.

Whole App

The easiest thing is just to move the whole app to TrueCrypt. It'll actually run faster from there anyway.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

But then I can't run it

But then I can't run it through the portableapps menu, since it won't be in the directory. And I think you're wrong about it running faster from an encrypted partition. Firefox runs MUCH slower when the whole app is encrypted vs when only the profile is.

Hmm

That's odd, most folks report that it is faster.

And on what you're trying to do... have an app on one partition keeps its data on another... that's never been supported by any of the apps here. You can keep data outside the app in many apps but only on the same drive.

We're gonna add the ability to do more with TrueCrypt in an upcoming release of the Platform.
