John, I think I'm representing the community here when I say this. Please stop posting release dates when you never can fulfill them. Personally, I'd rather have a surprise when something comes out, than to keep being bombarded with "It's coming out this week", "In a few days", etc. Just say, It'll be done when it's done!
Thank you.
P.S. Very sorry about being harsh, I didn't really reread it before posting. Here I'll put in that I'm really very grateful for the quality work you put out here. Thanks so much!
I wouldn't have been as harsh but i agree. It'll help stop spam in the forums also....and you (John) will get more time to focus on whats important.
...
In my opinion, you're lucky he's even releasing the software for us.
I think you would understand if you became a developer or a programmer.
I am, and I never say when I release, and if I do, I usually release earlier and sometimes more than was expected
I am a graphic designer/web developer, and I actually do understand...I often second-guess myself and try to make to soon of release dates.
You mean the v2.0 pre-Alpha wasn't released? I wonder what deal has put that test of again... but indeed, I already had a feeling when I saw "this week" mentioned and well, I thought it was true as in the past it virtually never came unless there was some important IT happening I thought it has changed because I can't believe that in 99% of those announcements something unforseeable would happen like yet another company offering some deal which asked not to make a new release.
*Falls on the floor and starts crying because I fell for it... AGAIN*
The real reason is because of the multiple bugs that needed fixing in 1.5. There are still a couple of baddies in 1.5.2 including major issues with Vista in 120dpi mode (which we're seeing more of), so I've been working on that as getting things working for users is more important than adding new features. There's a test build of it in the forums already. And I'm prepping for a meeting with one of the top 5 USB manufacturers tomorrow.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
OH SNAP!
I wonder what company it is >_>
Thanks for the update John. Good luck with the meeting(s) but don't let meetings and such make you not release any versions as I personally think that shows intent to make PortableApps move forward regardless of deals which could be a positive thing for possible partners. Specific requirements can always be dealt with as they come.
I'm gonna hunt down the forums for the test. Again thanks and good luck!
LOGAN-Portable did you find the test because I can't.
Good news.
I'm glad the OP is excited for the new version to come out. I am too, but instead of thinking about it all the time I just signed up for the newsletter and will wait till it announces the v2.0 release. Till then I'll tend to my fish.
