VLC 0.9.9 running into Visual C++ Runtime errors

Submitted by DJRJ_AU on May 5, 2009 - 9:36pm

I just changed computers at work and am now running into crashes whenever I try and access the playlist function on VLC. I click on the playlist button and immediately get the following:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program E:\PortableApps\VLCPortable\APP\vlc\vlc.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Is there something that I can do to fix this sort of stuff-up, or do I have to muddle through as best I can with this? Oh, I do not have administrator privileges on this computer so installing new software is almost certainly not going to be an option.

Fixed my own problem.

All I did was to delete the existing VLC Portable installation from my portable drive and then reinstall it. Why that works, I'll never know...

And now the problem is back again...

Short of doing another delete and re-install, is there any way of nutting out what's wrong?
