Site Outage Summary (June 20, 2009)

We had a site outage today from approximately 5pm EDT (NY time) to midnight. This was due to the same issue as the last outtage, the live feed / battery / generator switching equipment that failed during the severe storms near our data center in Texas last week.

Today's issue caused a complete and sudden power loss on the database server which corrupted the database on which Drupal runs. There was some concern that we may have to restore to last night's backup, but we were able to restore the affected tables after a few hours of work.

The site is being re-indexed for searching and caching, so site performance may slow slightly. Sunday is our slowest day, however, so most users won't even notice a difference.
