If you want to sync with an actual phone that requires drivers. You can not install drivers without admin privileges so... I think that Thunderbird may have a function or there is an extension which will allow you to sync thunderbird contacts with yahoo, gmail, etc but don't quote me. I rarely use thunderbird so...
