That's a weird description...

Were you using my generic launcher? If so, you need to have the splash base file name set to the same as the executable and the INI file (just with jpg as the extension).

i used Secret Maryo Chronicles Portable 1.5 Dev Test 3 created by Travis Carrico as my base template. i liked the game and i thought i start with checking out his creation. which in the end led me to making 2 launchers. which this is one of. the first of my first.

Note: i tried your launcher and liked it but was never able to quite figure it out lol.

I tried it and had a look at the source. You tell the launcher to show the splash screen twice. I guess thats what leads to the bug. Just delete the first part (the one with the /PASSIVE part) and it shows the splash.

I find your launcher a bit confusing. the settings file isnt saved in the Data folder, instead it is looking for an xml file whereas the config file is called "config.cfg". You might want to take a look at that.

but yeah i'm having the same problem with sonic portable. except at one point in time there was a settings file that was created. however i don't know why it isn't there anymore. also maybe that's why the splash wont show. but last time i tried that it wouldn't work. but hey ill give it a go. i have been given a bit of help here http://portableapps.com/node/20662 if u want to input some help thanks.

Edit: okay i got rid of the pasive part but still no splash screen

Need a real launcher

Sorry, but this is useless for making it a portable application; I finally decided to have a look, and my suspicion checked out: you've just copied Travis's Secret Maryo Chronicles launcher and changed the defines. This is no good currently as all the launchers are different, application-specific; you'll need to write your own launcher. Until then, you should remove the links to your packages for Smart Pacman and OpenSonic, as they're not at all portable (and thus misleading).

Please read the field guide in the portable app development forum again, and take a look at the launchers for various different apps.

seeing these were the first apps for me to try to make. i was changing stuff until i could make a new one. How ever i'm still having issues and i doubt they will be fixable so until i can fix them or someone else i will take my links down if that is what i must do.

note: i said above also that i used his as my base.
