jamcomm temporary ban, now permanent

As some folks may have guessed (or hoped), jamcomm is now sitting out with a one week ban. After receiving a final warning two days ago, he'd continued with the attitude and had begun posting comments in all bold just to be annoying (since he had specifically been warned not to abuse the formatting in the forums). The ban will apply until October 6th and be lifted, giving him one last chance.

I know several moderators and developers are hoping for a permanent ban. I'm not a fan of such actions, but will take it if necessary.

Kind Regards,
John

As Many Expected

As many people expected, jamcomm turned out to be a genuine troll. After receiving the one week temporary ban, rather than accept it and rethink things, he created 4 new accounts and attempted to post comments to the forums. The ban is now permanent.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Not surprised

Not surprised at all. He really went off the deep end with the formatting once he just went all bold.

Four new accounts? Wish I were here for that. I always suspected he and listless were the same person. Very similar attitude, they'd defend one another when called on inappropriate action, only difference is listless didn't do the formatting stuff.

I'll miss his brand of humor, but I know a lot of people weren't amused, and he had plenty of chances, so I don't feel sorry for him. Good job if his absence, or the absence of his perpetual negativity, helps the developers concentrate on what's important.

An Auzzie?

jamcomm's IP wouldn't be from Australia would it?

Ed

Ed_P a fifth account?

Unnecessarily shouting (bolding) his name? And why Australia? Sounds suspicious

Waltzing Matilda

Why, because all Australians are convicts obviously!* duuuh! Evil

*In his best sarcastic tone

Australia

I'm not from Australia, but even I think that's pretty offensive.

I remember seeing a post on here a few days ago which looked like the same person posted it as it had a number of points defending him (so understandable it was deleted). It mentioned Australia as well, which is why I thought Eds post looked suspicious.

No

Ed_P has been a member for a while.

Tim

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

Because..

Because we had a member on our forum who kept getting more and more obnoxious and had to be deleted, he was from Australia. Just wondering if it might be the same person.

The bolding of names is a sign of respect on some forums. Of course it's easier to do on them then here.

Ed

Poor jamcomm, banned for

Poor jamcomm, banned for being bold. (sorry I just had to say that)

that was actually pretty

that was actually pretty funny Smiling

If only it were that simple

I'd say he had a case of Net Tourettes.

When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Actually

Actually, I thought he was being realistic at first.

Bold and Italics are actually far underused; they're used (or at least, can be used) to convey different kinds of speaking. Bold is not shouting, but it is a kind of strong emphasis, e.g. a parent saying "Never do that again". To just capitalize it would convey yelling, and bold plus caps would convey screaming. Italics represent a sort of emphasis that doesn't include raising one's voice.

Anyway, for the most part, jamcomm used them correctly. The problem wasn't the formatting (from where I sit), it was that he was constantly talking down to people, and could not wrap his mind around the difference between trademark and copyright. The attitude didn't bother me (I post on GameFAQs at home - he's very mild compared to most people up there), it was just how I'd explain something, and rather than disagree with it or offer an argument, he'd just choose to ignore it.
