Simeon - October 28, 2009 - 5:59pm
I thought a nice card game was missing in my collection of games so here it is:
Application: Big Solitaire 3D
Category: Games
Description: Big Solitaires 3D is a collection of 40 solitaire games with OpenGL 3D rendering.
Download Big Solitaires 1.4 Development Test 3[ 4 MB download / 14.6 MB installed]

Release Notes:
Version 1.4 Dev Test 3 (2011-02-12)
Updated Icon (Thanks John!) and cleaned the Readme a bit
Version 1.4 Dev Test 2 (2011-02-12)
Updated to PAL
Version 1.4 Dev Test 1 (2009-10-28) Initial release
It seems to me that this game isn't in active development any longer. But its fairly nice.

No problems here.
It's a shame nobody else commented here. Anyway, I haven't run into any major problems.
Missing from official lineup
A nice solitaire game is what's missing from the official apps lineup. Hopefully this gets fast-tracked to official status in a big hurry, if OpenGL is compatible with a lot of computers, that is.
Sudoku is cool, but while the official Sudoku Portable leaves a lot to be desired, the natively portable "Solo" (it's part of someone's portable games pack) is good.
DISCLAIMER: My posts are my own and do not represent PortableApps.com in any way, shape, or form. I am just a regular guy who happens to be a fan of PortableApps.com and computers/software/gaming in general.
Also No Problems
I also have been running BigSol for a while now and haven't had any problems. I've run it on a PowerSpec machine 3 GHz Pentium with 3 gig Ram and also a Lenovo with a QuadCore processor.
Both machines run XP SP3.
Thanks
for all the positive feedback.
I'm glad its all working for you.

Going to try it out tonight
Going to try it out tonight while waiting for new beta of PAM. I'll try to give you some feedback tomorrow.
I used to sign here, but the ink keeps smudging on my screen.
it works in windows 7 but...
I've just tried it in windows 7 pro 64bit, and it worked, but I had to run it with admin rights
Great work!
IMO Big Solitaires Portable is rather a game than a utility
I noticed that you have 2 *.reg-files in your settingsdirectory. If you want only one file you could look at my FreeMat Portable launcher. It saves the registry keys into one file. (Sorry for this ad, but you could save a few lines of code that way, especially the "RestoreThe2Key" part).
*me thinks this is ready for Pre-Release
Thanks
Finally I had a look at it today and implemented your suggestions

I know this is an old thread BUT
Game worked awesome once Irenamed the launcher.exe file to match the appinfo.ini file
Last year I went fishing with Salvador Dali. He was using a dotted line. He caught every other fish.
Right
I missed that one.
I fixed it locally a while ago. It will be fixed once I update it to the latest PAL.

Yes, everything works great
Yes, everything works great once you rename the file.
Nice game, I'm glad to have be able to use it. Thanks for porting it!
Youre welcome
Im glad you like it and am planning to get a new dev test out with an updated launcher and this fix included.

Hello
I was going through my PortableApps.com directory and came across Big Solitaire. What's the update and/or release status on this?
There's only one card game (PokerTH) on the official list and this would expand the category.

Great!
It is a standard app that should be represented at PortableApps.com. Thanks for your efforts on this.

New Icon
I've got one for you: http://portableapps.com/temp/BigSolitairesPortable_128.png
Download ICO and 3 PNGs: http://portableapps.com/temp/BigSolitairesIcons.zip
It's from the Crystal icon set by Everaldo released under the GPL (include a text file called IconLicense.txt in Other\Source mentioning this and that the GPL is included in the same directory).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks
John.

is development continuing
...or, is source code available? i posted six or seven (mostly simple) bugs a few weeks ago on sourceforge, and then again on the original author's website, only to find there didn't appear to be any further development, and the original author says he's done...
thanks.

MJA
i guess no
Nothing has changed on the website as long as I know about it (2009) which is a bit sad. All the activity (bug reports, feature requests) are from 2008 or earlier. Maybe you could take it over and improve it as it seems dead/out of development to me.
