Where To Store DosBox Games

eltonbrad - February 3, 2010 - 7:34am

Hi,

Does anybody know what I should do with some games I got for DosBox? Should I put them somewhere in the PortableApps/DosBoxPortable/ folder, my main USB drive folder or under Documents (even though it's not made for games. This is my first time trying to run DosBox and I don't know what to do. My USB thumb drive is H:\ am I supposed to mount it like below?

mount c h:\PathOnMyDevice

Also, the games are in zip files. am I supposed to extract them to another folder? Thanks in advance for any help! I really do appreciate it!

Anywhere

Well as far as i know you can store it anywhere on the drive, when i used DosBox Portable i kept them in a games folder inside the documents but you can put them wherever you feel most comfortable and yes you are ment to unzip them first.

With the mounting of the files some of them vary on how your ment to mount and play them but yes, mount c (drive letter):\(path of game file folder) is used for most simple games while more complex games like TES:Daggerfall will require you to mount a cd drive as well.

if you want more info on how to run dosbox games then check the dosbox wiki.

Remember google is your friend.

Already done

Thanks so much for your help! I've pretty much done it and have been having so much fun with a few old games (Hexxagon and Squarez Deluxe)! I put them in an Oldgames folder in my Documents folder and told DosBox to mount into that folder, which it now does!

Thanks again!
