NVDA - NonVisual Desktop Access
talksina - February 11, 2010 - 8:35am
Hi,
I am a visually impaired person (that is, totally blind)
well
I noticed on your site there is a menu option called "accessibility" and I was sorry to realize, there was not NVDA included
It's a screen reader. that is, a self-voicing application which is needed for blind people to use the computer without sighted help
NVDA is on the site http://www.nvda-project.org, installer and portable version is included. With the ability, also, to make the pen drive really self-voicing, modifying the autorun.inf file in an u3-based unit
Hope you consider including this app into the "accessibility" section
PS:
unfortunately i do not remember the URL, but there is also a firefox extension called firevox, but unfortunately it needs sapi5 installed.
bye

Thunder screen reader
I actually just posted the Thunder screen reader this morning; I'm not familiar with NVDA, but it's likely Thunder can do the same things.

No, not at all. Thunder has
No, not at all. Thunder has the same concept but is not the same thing
it's more difficult to use, and especially it has sapi5 as pre-requirements, NVDA has ESpeak integrated instead
...and I suppose thunder is
...and I suppose thunder is no longer developed
last version is April 2009...
NVDA is growing and growing
I'll look into it
I'll look into NVDA immediately; Thunder just got pulled because of license issues. Let me see what I can do.
