[PChat] Issue with Perl plugin

p858snake - March 10, 2010 - 7:36pm

When running latest stable PChat (1.0.3) and the Perl plugin I get reams of "gdkdrawable-win32.c:1259: LineTo failed: Access is denied." errors outputed in a (warning) tab.

Seems to be caused by Perl, because it is fine and doesn't occur after I unload the plugin.

Confirmed. Is there any way

Confirmed. Is there any way you can show us what scripts you were running?

I noticed it, but figured it was do to my bad perl skills.

Is there any rhyme or reason to the way these occur?

I'm not running any scripts

I'm not running any scripts at the moment except those that come with the package, which are:
*Exec
*DNS
*XTray

so its when you have the perl

so its when you have the perl plugin loaded as well? And you haven't loaded any scripts, it just does this?

Happens to me too

That happens to me too; I'm not using any Perl scripts, and the problem started before the Perl plugin was added, IIRC.

yeah that warning iirc is

yeah that warning iirc is related to a certain environment variable, I'll have that wrapped in the next release, don't worry about it now it won't kill PChat nor is it a bug of PChat or Perl plugin bug.

this is another intermittent problem we seem to have Sad.

Grab Avtice perl from here.

Install, then copy the perl folder at C:\perl to PChatPortable\App, so that the App folder has a folder called perl with a couple folder in it.

On the computer you are using, do you have activestate activeperl installed locally?

i.e., by pressing win+r, and typing cmd, hitting enter, you should get a command prompt.

If you type in perl --help and press enter, do you get output? Or does windows complain about the command.

thanks, that means that perl is not installed locally. Which is a good thing, except that it kills a idea I had for why the plugin was not working.

This is a issue Zach (and I?) will have to work on. For now, I sugesst just using activeperl as I prescribed above.
