Firefox portable on local

I left my usb at home @ work I can only use IE which I don't like using, instead I download the portable version of FF from here and installed it, apart from the folder where it is installed is it possible that information can be and found elsewhere? And just to be on the safe side I configured it to autostarts privatebrowsing each time I start the browser.

oh don't worry

Firefox portable backs up your local settings before using its own. You can have as many Firefox Portable installations on your computer as you want, and each can carry different settings, all without messing up the one on your computer.

Isn't it great?

EDIT I misread your question. No, all the data from Firefox Portable goes into your Data folder, nothing is left on the PC from Firefox that isn't in your Data folder.

What he said, but...

What he said. But, rather than having "as many [Portable Firefox] installations on your computer as you want", just use the Second Profile launcher John has somewhere. Install *that* as many times as you want after Portable Firefox. Then you've only got to worry about updating one Portable Firefox. I do this at home, for my wife and I.

More to the TC, consider Mozilla Sync, currently an extension add-on but a future feature, so if you start using it now while it's optional, you'll be an old pro at it by the time it's integrated into the browser. Not that there's anything to it. But you can sync settings, so you'd start from the one on your USB drive, then you can sync that to any other Firefox (including Portable) that you use.

Careful......

It sounds like you are doing stuff that you don't want others to know about, even if it is as simple as running Firefox when you shouldn't be.

You should keep in mind that your IT people can always track what you are doing, even if you use "private" browsing. If you are on their network, they have the capability to watch where you go. Further, if you are on their network, they have the legal right to check on your usage.

Please actually read the warning that comes up when Firefox goes into private browsing mode.

lol I'll be careful

yeah I'm pretty aware that the IT people I work with can always track what I'm doing whenever they want to, definitely no doubt about that. During E3 if your familiar a gaming expo I went to a gaming site and it was block within mins of streaming. I just don't feel comfortable leaving cookies and history of websites I go to, obviously not websites that are (NSFW) but sites like blogs, forums, social sites..etc. Occasionally I still go to those sites, blogs..etc. on "IE" they just don't look as well on IE as they do on FF.

but ah, thanks. Thats all I wanted to know.

Value

I hope you have a lot of value to your employer. It sounds as if you aren't a very good fit there, and maybe the value you hold is keeping you employed?

I've always found it a best practice to keep business and pleasure separated.

Best of luck to you.

I'll keep that in

I'll keep that in mind.

thanks.

edit: don't want to escalate this into anything more but why'd you say "you aren't a very good fit there". You don't have to answer I'd just like to know.

Wandering off topic

Well, briefly...

Think of it like a romantic relationship... if you are skirting issues and getting caught at it, one of you should be looking for someone else.
