A report

Do you have permission to distribute this? If you do it needs to say so in your devtest post above. Assuming you do...

  • You still need *A catchy tagline* in your helpfile
  • Should there be something in the DefaultData folder?
  • Looks like you can remove installer.ini

A pretty good app. I actually like it better than WinDirStat and have been using that for a long time...

Update

Yes I received permission to repackage and distribute - I'll modify the post in a bit.

Should there be anything in the DefaultData folder aside from an empty settings folder (which I just added)?

I also removed the installer.ini - I was just testing the online installer while I was waiting to hear back from the app's developer.

Thanks

.

If nothing belongs in the DefaultData folder, I'd just remove it. Other than that the app seems to be working well for me.

Great app but

This is a pretty nifty way to do it, but unfortunately it keeps crashing when I do a scan of my C-drive. However it works on my other drives. It simply stops working just when it's done scanning the drive. Win7 x64. Same deal for both the Dev Test 1 and 2 versions.

Whenever the "Tag Consistency Check" dialog box comes up, it ends up locking up the application. May be my system, not sure.

odd

I'm running Win7 x64 as well and haven't had any issues like that...

It is rather odd - I started

It is rather odd - I started it a 3rd time, and it just completed.

On first run, I let it work with the tag dialog present for about an hour (main window title said scan was 79% done). When I began clicking around on it, Windows pulled the "The program (very very long title) is no longer responding. Close (etc)". On 2nd try it completed 98% and again froze, and clicking around on it it pulled the error box again, but within a few minutes - probably due to my clicking around. 3rd attempt just completed like on the other drives.

large files

Do you have any giant files it may not he able to handle? It is only a 32bit app.

I have exactly the same

I have exactly the same issue. Win7 x64, scans both my 1TB drives fine but locks up on my 60GB C drive. My C drive is an SSD, don't know if this is important? All formatted NTFS.

Yup

It's crashing for me as well on Win7 x64 with several large files on my machine. I can point it to specific folders on my C drive and have it scan them successfully, but scanning the entire drive itself seems to be too much for it.

How large?

How big are the files? How large is the HDD and how is it formatted? Do you have any problems with other drives?

Still active?

Saw this today and recommended WinDirStat to the friend who showed me. He then demonstrated the better performance and additional features in Space Sniffer.

Hopefully this gets to go Official Smile

Thanks for doing spacesniffer

Thanks for doing spacesniffer portable, I hope it's updated with each new version and perhaps becomes official in time.

Great utility

I use this often . Its a great utility and perfect candidate as a portable app. I run it straight out of a folder. currently version 1.1.4.0. Would love to see this integrated into portable apps

New topic

Rather than hijacking dougakins' thread, please start a new thread for your dev test.

Sry but...

my intention was updating the app and showing that the work was done by dougakins not me.
