ipconfig portable

When trying to run ipconfig outside of the system32 directory on windows 7 I find that it doesn't work, so I came up with the idea that creating it as a portable app may help me run ipconfig outside of system32.
Since this is a program that is already installed on the system I am unable to use the regshot to see what it uses.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this, or if this will even work?

Thanks

Being a part of Windows,

Being a part of Windows, ipconfig (and most if not all dependencies it may have) are commercial software, and thus can't be packaged legally.

Question

Is there a way then to make a file that points to the local file for the portable launcher for you to use it????

say for msconfig, ipconfgi, calculator, paint, or other programs alike.

I use "Control" in my Windows 7 gagets that also gets me the quick tab for all of the shot down comands too.

Sure you could. Just have to

Sure you could. Just have to write a bat file for them.
Or, in the case of ipconfig specifically since it is a command line executable, use Console Portable or Command Prompt Portable.

well I don't plan on distributing it, I just wanted to use it for my own use. Is that an issue?

First of all, why do you need

First of all, why do you need to run it outside of the system32 dir, and why do you need it to be portable?

Most Windows PC's you meet will have it, and it's not like it has settings or such you would want to move around with you.

Also, the only places that you would be blocked from using the native copy you probably wouldn't be able to run it portably either.

On to the actual problem - I have just run it successfully from a folder on my desktop and from my portable hd, with nothing other than ipconfig.exe copied. So why isn't yours working? What system are you trying to run it on? Are there errors? Are you trying to double-click the exe or are you running it from the command line?
