Search NOT HIDING (in the latest version - 12.03)

Hi,

Can anyone confirm the following:

PortableAppsMenu.ini:

[Search]
HideSearchWhenNotInUse=True

SEARCH BAR, AT THE TOP OF THE MENU NOT HIDING (ALSO NOT AT STARTUP!)
I am using the latest version of PortableApps.com 12.03

Thanx in advance

Added Wrong

If you added those two lines yourself, you added it wrong. There's already a search section that looks like this by default:

[Search]
SearchWithinAppDescriptions=False
HideSearchWhenNotInUse=False

If you add a second search section, it won't be used. You need to adjust the existing section to say True.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Hi John, Thanx for your

Hi John,

Thanx for your (quick) reply!

No, i didn't added it.

It already was there, i only changed "false" to "true"
Which did work in the previous (point) releases 12.0 12.01 12.02 but not after updating to 12.03

But the strange thing is that today i got an update for 12.03 (???) but i am already on 12.03, and even stranger it's NOW WORKING! (without changing anything to the .ini file)

Am I getting crazy or did i missed something?

PS:
How is it with your health, hopefully is all OKAY!

INI changes are only read at startup.

I don't know about it offering an update to a version you believed to have already updated to, also it's version 12.0.3 which may not seem important, but 12.03 could be what a later version gets called.

Anyway, regarding it not working for you, then working, etc., I'm guessing that you didn't Exit the Platform before you edited your PortableAppsMenu.ini, which would mean that the Platform didn't notice the change as it only reads those settings from the INI when it first starts up (hiding the menu then bringing it back up doesn't count, it has to be Exited).

Also the Platform writes it's current settings to the INI when it Exits, so if you had changed the INI setting(s) then restarted the Platform it would have rewritten over your edits with the previous value(s), however I'm not sure if it writes to the INI when it gets shut down by the Update/Upgrade process, which could account for it suddenly working after an Update as you may have changed the INI setting since the last time you had started the Platform.
