Black Screen Since Recent Seamonkey Portable Update

Since the last two updates for SeaMonkeyPortable, it is opening up with a black screen. I experienced the same thing with latest updates to FirefoxPortable and managed to turn off hardware acceleration because of my familiarity with it and it's working now.

This is only happening on my Dell Optiplex 390. On my Optiplex 3010, this does not happen and SeaMonkey and FireFox have had no problems. Should I add a better graphics card? I've stopped using SeaMonkey for now.

Has this been reported already?

Same Thing

SeaMonkey is Firefox under the hood, so it's the same thing. Turn off hardware acceleration. You may have to do it in about:config.

This just means your graphics drivers are buggy. It's older Intel HD integrated drivers that seem to have the issue and it began with the new rendering engine release (current FF and SM releases). Mozilla doesn't have them blacklisted yet so hardware acceleration is automatically disabled whenever they are detected. The blacklist is usually quicker to add buggy graphics drivers that cause system or app crashes first since they wind up being automatically reported by Firefox's crash recovery. In this case, a crash isn't occurring, so it isn't getting automatically reported.

It's a known issue: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-shows-black-screen-or-blank...

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
