Does anyone have a suggestion for a good portable app that will read media files on the drive its installed on and let you organize the way the files are displayed/cataloged/listed? Preferably one that allows customized, Thumbnails, categories, vintage, and other details.
For a long time I had been looking for an app that would ready media files from an external drive, allow you to add categories (TV Series, Movies, Anime, Etc.), vintage, details, and even a thumbnail, and allow you to play straight from that app. I thought of an app that would be like if Media Player Classic and iTunes had a baby for the go. A friend suggested I try iTunes out again as recent updates have improved video organizing. It's true, the way the Videos can be organized and displayed it awesome... much better than a few years ago, but (and I don't know if this was because it's iTunes, or because iTunes was trying to read an external drive) the video playback was so incredibly ridiculously that it all but froze iTunes.
Originally I had an idea for an app that would allow you to organize by list, sub-categorize by genre and/or alphabet, and even let you search.

I'm working on a couple of projects currently (hopefully Ill be done in a few days) but I plan to really look into development and design to see about actually making an app my self. I don't know where Wm... gets off antagonizing me by calling my desire to find an app that fits my needs "moaning", but I definitely appreciate your support ^_^ Ill try to keep updates posted once I start.
If you have a good idea for an app, by all means go for it! I'd love to test it out once you have a working version available.

Where to get off? look at your post at the top, it is very specific, not only do you want this app but you want it to be portable. I was saying find the ideal app first.
